Patrick's Fun Run

Today was the Wellington Fun Run. The Fun Run is the school's annual fundraiser and is a very big deal for the kids. The children raise money by finding pledges for every lap they run.

It being our first year, we just asked family and friends for a flat donation. Patrick raised 60 dollars and ran 45 laps!

He ran the entire time and never stopped for water. Long distance running might be his sport!

Each time the child completes a lap, the back of their t-shirt is marked.

The parents were asked to walk the final lap with their kids.

Patrick's Lego Golf Course

In Patrick's own words:

I built this Lego golf course with my brother and my dad. People are playing golf here. The golf cart by the person, the person is hitting the golf ball. The green cart is the snack cart. And the blue stuff is ponds. The orange thing is the sand trap. The blue stuff on the building is not water.

The man inside the club house is drinking water. The green stuff on top of the brown stuff is a tree. The red push cart is a carries golf clubs. You push it to make it roll. The thing that the man is holding is a golf club. He is going to hit the white ball.

The end!

Patrick and golf

Patrick has recently been showing some interest in golf. So the other day we ate lunch at the Bridlewood club and showed him the driving range, putting greens, and of course the golf carts.

I promised him that I would find a summer golf camp for him, but in the meantime he would have to wait...well as soon as we got home he made his own golf course.

Here he is loading up his golf bag.

He stopped and gave me this pose. He was very serious.

And here he is driving his golf cart. We're not sure if he's really interested in golf or just driving golf carts.

Adam and his yoga and his other family

Here is Adam showing us his yoga. He's been learning yoga at preschool and can do many poses. His favorite pose is "the boat." It's the second picture.

He's also been telling us lately about his "other family."

According to Adam, he had another family before he came to live with us. His "other daddy" had every Indiana Jones movie and would let him watch every part of every moive. And according to Adam, when he moved to come and live with us, his daddy packed up all the movies and sent them with Adam. And supposedly Adam has them hidden away in his closet.

I wish his "other family" could see his yoga!

Little Boys in little undies

Is there anything cuter than a little boy in his undies?

Is there anything funnier than a little boy, just in his undies, scolding his brother about a broken set of coloring markers? I don't think so!

I had to stop and snap this picture. Patrick is so mad, and look at Adam's face. Adam and I could not help laughing, and it really upset Patrick even more. But it's very hard to take someone serious if they are just wearing their underwear! And especially if they are ranting over some old broken markers. I tried explaining both points to Patrick.

Normally, we do not run around in our undies. But Patrick had been outside and was hot and sweaty. I was too busy cooking dinner to encourage him to go and put on some other clothes.

Afterwards, Patrick went upstairs, took a shower (with no one telling him to do so), and came down in his pajamas. He was in a much better mood. Hopefully he learned that if you want someone to take you serious, you should at least have some clothes on!

Back to Preschool for Adam

After a nice long Labor Day weekend with our family in Shreveport, Adam returned to preschool.

There were no tears for him, he was ready! Since Patrick's been off at kindergarten Adam has been a little lonely and bored.

He's excited to be in Mrs. Amanda's 4 year old class.
He was really excited to see some old faces from last year, and he quickly found his seat and got to work!

Patrick goes to Kindergarten

With a blink of an eye, Patrick has grown into a kindergartner!

He was all smiles when Jonathon showed up. They are together in Mrs. Galloway's class.

He had a hard time falling asleep last night, but he looked very fresh and prepared!

He was very excited to have a desk, a locker, and computers in the classroom.

Mom was a bit teary, but not Patrick!

And when we picked him up, the first thing he said was, "Mom, I saw Cade and Collin at school!"

He had a great day, and then spent the afternoon on the sofa! The true test will be to see if he wants to go back tomorrow.
