The month of November

We must apologize to the few readers that we have for such a lack of entries. We thought this blog thing would be so easy. But with preschoolers, I still struggle to find the time to do any thing other than feed, clean, and go to the grocery store. So here is a lot, all at once...

Adam is our little builder and creator. He is always rearranging furniture (something he gets from his mother) to create some type of car, spaceship, pirate ship, restaurant, grocery store.... This creation is a garbage truck that he named the "4000 Machine"

Before becoming a mom, I thought our sweet mornings would be filled with finger painting and play dough. I think I had high expectations! So every now and then, I make a conscious effort to slow down, stop, and make time for these moments. This is proof to myself that we did find the time to paint. Aren't they sweet? Look they are even wearing aprons!

For those of you that know Patrick well, you know that he is terrified of bees--seriously terrified. At preschool he made this scarecrow, and he wanted to bring it home and put in the front yard to keep the bees away from our house. After explaining that the paper scarecrow would not hold up in our Texas wind, I persuaded him to settle with putting it up in the window. And for those of you that know Patrick, he is hard to persuade. So bees, stay away!!! Look close-- Patrick's shirt is inside out!

Here is Patrick receiving his first trophy--a soccer trophy. Chris volunteered to be the coach, and several of our friends joined the team. So we had lots of fun! Our team name was the Wolves, and with their wolf howls, our team had the best pregame huddle, by far. Patrick did score one goal this year, but it was in the opponents goal--still counts!

For Thanksgiving this year, we went to Sulphur. Grammy and Pop Pop have been busy renovating their kitchen. Here is a pic of their new stylin kitchen. They still have a few details left, like deciding on a back splash. But doesn't it look great?

After our Thanksgiving dinner, which was prepared in the new kitchen, we headed to Hazel Street park for a good old game of kickball. The teams were appropriately named the Pilgrims and the Indians. Here is Patrick rolling the ball to Grandpa! Thanks Aunt Allison for the great idea--sorry your team lost!

Patrick's birthday is in October, but his party was cancelled twice due to illnesses. So we had to celebrate in November. Of course, the theme was Star Wars. Dad dressed as a Jedi and trained our cousins to fight with light sabers (made from pool noodles). In the pic below Patrick is dressed as Darth Vader as Jedi Katie tries to defeat him. Happy Birthday Patrick!

During the party, Adam (aka Han Solo) decided to strip down.

Before leaving, we took all the cousins to the new Prien Lake park in attempt to capture a Christmas card photo.

Stay posted for a December entry! Our new year's resolution will be become better bloggers!

Halloween Week

Happy Halloween!!!

October has flown by for us, and just the other day I realized that I had not taken the boys to a pumpkin patch. Here in Flower Mound we have several really nice ones to choose from, but my boys like the Pumpkin Express best. Since it has a train and all, it's an obvious choice. Although, Adam did not like the haunted depot nor the haunted caboose!

Matthew and Aunt Allison joined us. It was a great day for the pumpkin patch, but it was terribly muddy. But none of the boys seemed to mind. Trains, jump houses and mud--every little boy's dream.

Halloween night, the boys were of course Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. After a potluck street dinner with our neighbors, we all went off to trick or treat. Adam was great and had no problem ringing doorbells asking for candy, not so for Patrick--he's such a Fitkin. Since we all went we just left the big gumbo pot full of candy on the porch. I think we were gone just 20 minutes, and when we passed by our house the pot was empty!

Our Halloween night, was complete when the boys received a surprise visit from Darth Vader. Patrick was too scared to go to the door, but later claimed, "I was actually watching football and didn't want to be bothered." Had to mention the word actually because it is one of his favorites. As you can see from the photo, the boys were eating up all of their candy, when Darth rang the bell. And of course we were out of candy, so Darth just came in and began rummaging through our kitchen looking for something to put in his bag. This really terrified the boys, so we had to reveal that Darth Vader was really only Mommy! They loved it and now have a Darth Vader costume to add to their collection. We hope you had a wonderful Halloween! We are already planning next year's costumes!

Patrick's 5th Birthday

Happy Birthday, Patrick!!! So yesterday was Patrick's 5th birthday! He awoke to our family tradtion: the birthday lion and presents. From Mom and Dad he received a Star Wars lunch box and from Grammy and Pop Pop legos! I'm learning that Legos and Star Wars are a must love for 5 year old boys.

Even though Patrick was a little sick, he still enjoyed his day. This swine flu is everywhere, so I had taken him to the doctor on Monday, but he tested negative. He was still running fever and had to stay home from school. But poor Adam was very sad to leave the birthday excitement, leave the new legos and go to school.

Patrick and Mom spent the morning running errands and planning for his upcoming party, but that all came to a crashing hault. When we picked Adam up from school he was looking really droopy and complaining of a headache. Adam quickly tested positive for the swine flu, and Patrick's earlier negative result changed to a positive. So our exciting birthday morning, turned to a disappointing afternoon. Even Dad has fallen victim!

But don't worry, Patrick's party has been rescheduled and we'll be celebrating soon! Happy Birthday Son!
